THC Vape Pen – Exploring Cannabis Vapes

In the world of cannabis, when it comes to sheer ease of use, portability, and convenience, nothing tops the THC vape pen.

These handheld devices are used in tandem with pre-filled cartridges that are loaded with cannabis oils, distillates, and even with some CBD.

And while many vapes may seem the same as the next one at first glance, there are actually quite a few different things to consider before picking the right one for yourself.

That said, understanding what sets each vape pen apart from one another is paramount to finding your way to the right one for you!

Without any further delay, let’s jump right and get you familiar with the products!

What is a THC Vape Pen?

A vape pen or weed pen is a battery-powered device that vaporizes cannabis distillates and oils through its atomizer.

Instead of burning the weed until the point of combustion, vape pens heat the cannabis at a controlled temperature to activate the ingredients without burning them.

Luckily for us, many modern vape products and cartridges on the market are compatible with each other and can be interchanged.

The Pros of Using a THC Vape Pen

Vape pens have a range of different advantages over smoking a raw cannabis flower. Here a few to get you familiar:

They’re easy to use

Many THC vape pens and cartridges are small battery-powered hand-held devices that can be easily transported and loaded with pre-filled cannabis distillates and concentrates. Swapping cartridges and carrying around multiple vape pens takes much less space than carrying a raw flower and rolling supplies.

They’re a stealthy way to consume

Many people don’t like the smell of cigarettes, which is why vape pens are so common among many tobacco users. The same principles also apply to the smoke of a raw cannabis flower. Vaping your weed instead of smoking eliminates the pungent odor from burning cannabis and replaces it with a nearly odorless vapor, meaning that you can consume your weed in complete discretion.

They’re easier on the lungs

Much like smoking cigarettes, cannabis does carry a decent amount of toxins and carcinogens when combusted and inhaled. What vape pens do is they heat the cannabis oils just enough to activate cannabinoids, but not enough to cause combustion. Because many vaporizers don’t heat cannabis to the point of combustion, vaporizers can be much less harmful to your lungs when compared to smoking cannabis.

The Cons of Using a THC Vape Pen

A vape pen has its benefits, but it also has its tradeoffs.

It produces a shorter high

Weed pens tend to produce sharper and shorter highs when compared to smoking cannabis. Although the effects are usually shorter in duration, they can be much more intense if consumed in large amounts.

It can be expensive

Vapes can carry a heavy price tag when compared to a raw flower. A good vape pen can run you anywhere between $100 and $300, with each cartridge adding up to be an additional $20 to $60 on top of that.

Different Types of Vape Cartridges

Most vape cartridges can be easily interchanged since they come with a standard 510 thread, which allows the battery to connect with the cartridge.

That said, there are a few exceptions to this, with pre-filled disposable THC vape pens being one of them.

Disposable Cartridges

The most commonly supported vape cartridges are known as a 510 cartridge, as it is fitted with a 510 thread, which can easily screw onto a variety of different vape pens. These cartridges can be filled with a variety of different cannabis concentrates and oils as well.

Distillate Cartridges

Distillate Cartridges

Distillate cartridges are highly concentrated cannabis oils that contain a high purity of cannabinoids

Cannabis distillates are usually refined so well that they are almost purely made of cannabinoids and little to nothing else, meaning that they’ll produce an extremely potent high as well.

One of the main drawbacks of distillates is that they lack the presence of terpenes due to the processing they go through. Cannabis distillates are usually very thick and without the terpenes to help reduce the viscosity of the fluid.

In turn, a thinning agent is usually added to ensure that distillates can be used with vape pens.

CO2 Oil Cartridges

A select few high-grade winterized CO2 oils are compatible with vape pens.

These high-grade CO2 cartridges meet the requirements of many vape pens as they are already at the ideal viscosity levels to be vaporized by the atomizer.

Unlike distillate cartridges, if the correct techniques are applied, CO2 cartridges can hold moderate levels of terpenes, giving some flavor to the vapor.

CBD Oil Cartridges

Aside from the many high THC offerings available on the market, some companies also produce products such as CBD that are more catered towards the therapeutic effects of cannabis rather than the high.

CBD cartridges and pens can typically carry a CBD to THC ratio of 2:1 all the way up to 20:1 and sometimes even more.

CBD oil cartridges combine the signature wellness benefits that CBD has to offer with the vape pen’s convenience and portability.

Disposable Pens

For the long haul, reusable vape pens reign supreme due to their ability to quickly and easily change cartridges.

However, pre-filled disposable weed pens are also a great option worth considering if you need something to pick up and go.

A disposable weed pen is specifically designed to be used with its built-in vape cartridge and battery, which require no charging whatsoever. The battery itself is meant to support the weed pen until the cartridge is fully depleted. Then it is meant to be disposed of.

THC Vape Pen vs Edibles – What’s Better?

If you are no stranger to cannabis, you probably know that there are various ways to consume your cannabis for both recreational and medical purposes.

While THC vape pens are still gaining popularity and seem to be relatively new to the cannabis market, edibles have been on the market for quite some time and already have an army of loyal fans.

Both edibles and vaping are great alternatives to smoking your weed. They don’t require combustion and are better for your health and well-being.

However, compared to vaping, edibles can be used for those who don’t like the experience of inhaling their cannabis. Since they don’t need to be inhaled, they are also healthier than vaping your weed and won’t cause any problems to your lungs and respiratory system.

Besides, they are also better for those who have difficulty with rolling a joint and don’t want to make a hassle for themselves. And who wouldn’t?

If you are also that type of person who doesn’t like the flavor of cannabis, then edibles might be an option for you.
