Weed and Sex – Enhance Your Sexual Pleasure

Weed and sex shared a storied history but the question is, are they compatible?

While seldom few might say they don’t, most cannabis users that combine cannabis and sex say that sexual pleasure is greatly enhanced.

In short, we can come to the early conclusion that cannabis is more than compatible with sexual experience. But that conclusion opens up the doors to another interesting set  of questions. Should you consume medical marijuana after or prior to sex? And do strain types play a role? What about edibles?

Here’s the Sugarjacks guide to weed and sex.

Weed and Sex – How does it work?

weed and sex

First, cannabis enters your system. Then depending on the type of strain and method of ingestion you’re using, the different effects may be triggered. Some are physical, and others are mental. Those effects may or may not enhance sexual performance and pleasure, but they will surely enhance your body and mind.

Now for the technical answer. Your body is the owner of something called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which comprises three major components; endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes.

Endocannabinoids activate the receptors (hence activating the effects of the endocannabinoids themselves). And enzymes break down the endocannabinoids after they are used. This same metabolic process can be mimicked using cannabis extracted cannabinoids instead of your body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids.

There are numerous endocannabinoid receptors in the brain that are responsible for sexual functions. Those receptors match with certain cannabinoids such as THC and CBD, which explains why certain functions during sex seem to be enhanced or activated when smoking or ingesting weed.

When it Comes to Weed and Sex – Indica, Sativa, or Hybrids?

Cannabis hemp does not produce a head high and is not as sexually enhancing as marijuana is.

It seems to be that the additional sexual pleasure provided by cannabis comes from marijuana and its psychoactive effects. It is through the brain and the ‘high’ feeling provided by marijuana that the physical effects are perceived.

What about the strains?

While Indicas tend to provide a stronger body high that could potentially numb the body and play a negative role in your sexual experience, cannabis Sativa offers an entirely different schema of effects.

Sativa cannabis strains are known for their euphoric and uplifting effects, which means it’s likely you won’t feel like you’re “one with the couch” when consuming sativa marijuana. In this case, this is a positive thing, because if there’s one activity you want to feel present and motivated for, that would be sex.

So, if we had to dial it down to a single type of strain, we may advise you to just stick with sativa. Not to say that incredible sex cannot be achieved with the use of an indica strain. It’s just safer to go with sativa-dominant strains.

But let’s forget altogether about indicas and sativas for the moment. We don’t want to limit ourselves to marijuana based on scientific labels.

What you should concentrate on when looking for a weed strain that combines perfectly with sex are the sensations connected to it. Here’s a couple of items you should keep an eye out for:

Strains That Enhance Your Senses

There are five senses in total: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. In the case of sex, you probably want to focus on touch.

The taste might not also be completely crazy to think about if you’re a fan of bringing the food into your sex. But let’s leave it at that.

Strains for Anxiety

Strains known for relieving anxiety can make you more mindful at the present moment.

Whether it’s sex, exercising, writing, reading, meditating, or any activity you enjoy, one of the most challenging things to do is remaining present. Especially if you have an active mind, stopping it from revving and circling might be a difficult task.

Cannabis may help with that. This type of behavior usually translates to anxiety, so if you have a ‘fidgety’ mind, try a strain known for anti-anxiety use.

Strains for Pain Relief

Violator Kush

Pain can be an issue during any type of physical activity. Hip and lower back pain are both very common issues in physical activity, and we can see them being a problem during the sex as well. Look for strains known to provide pain relief. They are a good idea if you’re carrying an injury or the unfortunate carrier of any chronic pain type.

Strains That Make You Feel Social

Lacking social confidence is an issue in any social situation. If your ‘partner in crime’ is particularly social during sex, but you aren’t, there are quite a few cannabis strains you can use to help you get there as well.

‘Social strains’ help the mind open up to external influences and allow you to feel more confident. Use them to induce a feeling of relaxation, get more happy and social.

Best Weed Strains for Sex

First of all, to get the best out of cannabis, the experience needs to be tailored to the user specifically. All bodies work the same but behave differently. Some strains that work for us might not work for you.

When it comes to effects, dosing and method of delivery are what plays an important role. You’ll want to start low and go slow to understand how your body reacts to specific strains.

With that out of the way, here’s a list of the strains we consider can ‘get you there’ when it comes to sex:

  • ACDC
  • Strawberry Cough
  • Trainwreck
  • Sour Diesel
  • Harlequin
  • Do-Si-Dos
  • Wedding Cake

Based on what you want to achieve, various strains will hit you differently.

For example, strains such as Wedding Cake and Do-Si-Dos are great if you want to boost your sex drive . The ACDC strain, due to its low percentage of THC, is great to ease anxiety, while Strawberry Cough can be used to give you creative energy and full-body relaxation.

Ready to Enhance Your Sexual Experience?

When it comes to achieving the best sexual experience possible, it comes down to you and your partner. Yet, using cannabis as an aid for additional pleasure is also an option.

Choosing the right weed strain to pair with sex will ultimately come down to what works best for you, but you might want to begin with sativa-dominant strains. The reality is that, like with
