Marijuana-Edibles

Martha Stewart Debuts New Pet-Friendly Line of CBD Edibles

Just when you thought she had cornered the market on all things DIY, home decor and more, American retail entrepreneur, best-selling author and television personality Martha Stewart has shown she has more up her sleeve.

The mogul is now extending her ever-evolving empire even further by entering the wonderful world of weed for pets!

That’s right. There is more than meets the eye when it comes to the world’s favourite homemaker. But should we expect anything less from the woman who bridged the gap between homemaker and homie of the infamous veteran rapper Snoop Dogg

So, what motivated Stewart to embark on this new business venture, and what, precisely, does it entail?

Stick with us, and we’ll let you know exactly that!

Martha Stewart & Marijuana

It’s no secret that Martha Stewart is a passionate, albeit unexpected, advocate of the legalization movement and the healing properties of marijuana. After all, she is half of one of the most iconic yet unforeseen celebrity best friendships.

While Stewart and veteran rapper and entrepreneur, Snoop Dogg, come across as an unlikely pair, the two seem just to click. They even collaborated on their own hit late-night Emmy-nominated VH1cooking show, Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Party Challenge

In her role as headlining guest in the 37th Food & Wine Classic in Aspen in 2019, when asked what her favourite thing to share with Snoop was, Stewart responded, “Well, um, maybe-maybe a little smoke…And not barbecue smoke! He actually does a good job at sharing his smoke with me, and I don’t even smoke!”

The day after this appearance, she was on a plane from Colorado to Canada, where she served as the keynote speaker at the second annual World Cannabis Congress (WCC) in Saint John, New Brunswick, where she was invited to discuss cannabis, more specifically, CBD.

Needless to say, it’s no wonder she has received the coveted title of “America’s Cool Weed Grandma,” and we’re here for it!

Martha the Animal Lover

While her support of weed is well-known, it is also no big secret that Stewart is an avid animal lover.

According to her website, the multi-talented media personality currently has four dogs, three cats, multiple horses, more than 200 chickens, peacocks, canaries, and dozens of geese.

That’s a lot of clean-up, and it doesn’t end there!

According to an article written by Stewart herself, she has had at least 20 cats, 25 dogs, 10 chinchillas, 2 ponies, 3 donkeys, sheep and goats, turkeys, guinea fowl, quail and homing pigeons over the past 40 years!

Dedicating that much time and effort to provide a safe, healthy home for such a diverse menagerie of animals is the driving force behind Stewart’s crusade towards animal welfare and improving the quality of life not just for her pets but others as well.

Where Two Worlds Collide

With this context in mind, it shouldn’t come as that much of a surprise that Martha Stewart is now spearheading a project that combines her affection for cannabis with a dedicated campaign for animal advocacy.

According to her website, Stewart’s most recent passion is her new “scientifically-backed” line of CBD edibles, which she created in partnership with famed Canadian cannabis company Canopy Growth

However, Stewart wondered, “why stop there?” and ultimately aimed to create a pet-friendly line of CBD products, too.

“Martha’s decades-long experience with pet ownership has taught her exactly what pets need to live long, healthy, and happy lives,” the article posted on her website explains.

This fact motivated Stewart to join forces with the Director of Veterinary and Educational Services at Canopy Animal Health, Dr. Bob Menardi, to create CBD products backed by scientific research and evidence to be proven effective for pets.

“Dogs, too, like to be soothed and calmed and made to feel better,” Stewart explains. “Some dogs are anxious. Some dogs ache from arthritic conditions or aching joints or previous wounds. Some dogs’ anxiety extends to getting along with other dogs. And all dogs just want to feel good.”

Her focus with this line seems to be primarily on dogs to support their mental and physical well-being. According to a press release from Canopy Growth, the line is “scientifically-backed CBD wellness solutions for canines developed by Martha Stewart with her own beloved dogs in mind.”

Unfortunately, it looks like cats and other non-canine animals may have to sit back and wait for an extension of this line to reap the healing benefits of CBD.

Examples of products featured in this new line include Pet Soft-Baked Chews to promote calmness in a chicken and cranberry flavour, mobility in chicken and blueberry, and wellness in chicken, blueberry, and anise.

Stewart’s line of pet-friendly CBD products also includes chicken-flavoured “Wellness Drops,” the article explains, which contain 600mg of CBD per bottle and retail for $39.99 US.

The chews are available for smaller dogs (sized 5 to 35 pounds) and large dogs (sized 36 to 110 pounds) and range in price from $19.99 to $24.99 US.

CBD for Pets – The Benefits

While this particular line of CBD products seems to hone in on dogs, specifically, there is evidence to support that it can be beneficial for other animals as well, including our favourite furry felines.

According to various research studies, CBD can help treat epilepsy and osteoarthritis and cancer in cats. Other sources also indicate that CBD oil can help improve cats’ sleeping patterns, alleviate pain, anxiety and work as an appetite stimulant

Ultimately, we all want what’s best for our pets because we love them and want them to be happy and healthy, and celebrity endorsements, such as this latest endeavour from Martha Stewart, only serve to benefit this natural alternative.

If you choose to pursue this line of treatment for your animal, be sure that the products you’re purchasing from a reliable and respectable dispensary that supplies pet products.

Humans have reaped the benefits of the healing properties of CBD for years, but the evidence only goes to show that it can also work to increase the quality of life for our pets, as well!
