Best Stoner Movies – 7 Movies to Fuel Your Movie Marathon

Movies and weed have had a symbiotic relationship since the day they were incepted, blossoming a wide variety of best stoner movies to suit every toker. Any regular weed user can tell you that if you’re high enough, anything can seem like a blast, especially in the case of movies.

As far as the vernacular goes, almost any movie can be considered a stoner movie so long as you’ve smoked enough weed. In fact, you might be surprised that some of the greatest films to watch while high sometimes have nothing to do with weed.

If you want to talk about immersion, weed has been documented to have a remarkable effect on enhancing a person’s sensitivity to the senses. When you smoke weed, not only do your visuals get an extra injection of vividness, but your sense of hearing, smell, and touch also get a boost as well.

So, if you’re watching a movie after taking a few puffs, there’s a high chance you’ll be entirely immersed in what you’re watching.

That said, we’ve created a list of some of the best stoner movies to watch whether you’re half baked or sky-high. So, if you’re looking for some ideas for your next stoner movie binge, keep on reading!

What is the Appeal of Stoner Comedy?

The world of cannabis is entrenched with its own variants of slang and humour. Most notably, the stoner stereotypes and memes that are so pervasive throughout the internet and human culture.

In particular, Stoner comedy typically plays on those stereotypes, exaggerating them and making fun of them in a lighthearted way that is often innately relatable to consumers of all experience levels, from novice tokers to expert smokers.

Although stoner comedies are a great watch while sober or high, you’d be missing out on some prime real estate if you were restricting yourself to watching this genre of movies solely while high.

To further elaborate, here is a list of some of the, in our opinion, best stoner movies to watch after eating an edible, taking a few puffs from a joint, or whatever weed ingestion method tickles your particular fancy.

Blade Runner 2049 stars some of the original movie’s cast, including Harrison Ford, integrated with modern film staples, such as Jared Leto, Ana De Armas, Ryan Gosling, and Dave Bautista. Although Blade Runner 2049 is relatively slow in terms of pace, the world it creates is like no other.

The attention to detail in the environment and characters allow the viewer to be completely immersed in the universe. Blade Runner 2049 focuses on themes of humanity, empathy, and morality for the philosophical tokers out there, making it one of the more serious films on this list.

The Nice Guys (2016)

A hidden gem in the world of comedy films, The Nice Guys is an American Neo-Noir action-comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe.

The movie takes place in Los Angeles during the 1970s as a mismatched pair of private eyes take on a series of cases related to a missing girl and the mysterious death of a pornstar.

A combination of witty humour and physical comedy, The Nice Guys, provides a breath of fresh air in the comedy movie realm and is a great watch for anyone looking for a good laugh.
